The Idea Log

Every trade idea we have published since Feb 25, 2025, scored by one rule, losers included. Updated October 13, 2026.

How an idea is scored

Each issue prints an entry, a stop and a first target on the stock. We grade from the daily high and low starting the day after publication. Whichever is touched first, the stop or the first target, is the result. If both are touched on the same day it counts as a stop. Open ideas are marked at the last close.

Fifteen early issues printed no stop. Those carry the house default stop, the median distance of every stop we have printed (8% on longs, 8% on shorts), and are marked ⚑. Two OTC names with no daily price feed are listed but not scored.

The option leg is listed exactly as printed and is not scored. Nobody holds an option to expiry, and we do not have historical option prices, so any number we put there would be a guess. The stock plan is the score.

Across all 81 closed ideas the average move was +3.4% per idea, against +2.6% for the S&P 500 over the same holding windows. 20 ideas went on to reach their highest printed target, and 13 ran 50% or more past the entry at some point after publication. The 'best since' column shows that; it is not part of the score.

Notes

⚑ House default stop applied to: APPN, BBWI, BYD, CARR, CCL, CENX, CZR, LRCX, MCD, NOW, OC, PBF, PRMB, RDNT, TOKE. Three of these (BYD, MCD, OC) reached their target in an earlier version of this log that ignored the missing stop; under the default stop each one was stopped first. We show the stricter result.

Not scored: GLASF, TOKE, OTC names with no daily price history. Last known prices are shown.

Entries are the printed level. QSR was a breakout entry and is graded from the first day price reached it. UL's printed entry was below the traded range at publication, so it is graded from the publication-day close. Moves are measured on the stock only, before dividends, commissions and slippage.

This is not a portfolio. We publish one idea a week and readers decide whether they like it. There is no position sizing, no compounding, and no claim that anyone took every trade. The log exists so you can see every call we have made, including the ones that did not work, and check any of them against the original issue.
